Engaging rangatahi through technology

Tūhura Tech is currently not operating

Due to lack of funding, we have ceased operations. We're proud of what we accomplished and the rangatahi we reached. We may return in the future.

Thank You

From 2021 to 2026, Tūhura Tech worked tirelessly to bring free, high-quality technology education to rangatahi across Greater Wellington. This journey wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of our community, kaiako, volunteers, whānau, and funders.

Navigating the Funding Landscape: Despite our passion and impact, the difficult funding environment made it impossible to sustain our operations. Tech education charities across Aotearoa face significant challenges in securing long-term, reliable funding—a systemic issue that extends far beyond Tūhura Tech.

We remain incredibly proud of what we accomplished and grateful for every rangatahi we supported. If the funding landscape evolves, we may return to continue our important mahi.

Our impact

We work directly with rangatahi in schools, libraries and communities — bringing the gear, mentors and kaupapa so cost is never a barrier.

What We Mean by "Technology Education"

Technology learning in community spaces. Our trained kaiako and industry volunteers create sessions tailored to each group's interests and curiosity.

Learning Through Doing

Every session is hands-on and project-based. Rangatahi don't just learn about technology - they create with it, building games, apps, robots, and digital art that they're passionate about.

Whether it's their first time coding or they're already building complex projects, our mentors meet each rangatahi where they are and help them explore what excites them most.
